Chris Rabb Wins Democratic Primary In Deep-Blue Philadelphia House District

Chris Rabb won the Democratic primary for Pennsylvania's 3rd Congressional District on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, making him the heavy favorite to represent a deep-blue, Black-majority portion of Philadelphia.[1]

Rabb drew endorsements from progressive lawmakers, the Working Families Party and Justice Democrats, while his chief rival Sharif Street was backed by the state Democratic Party and key Philadelphia officials.[1]

The 3rd District covers much of Center City, North Philadelphia and West Philadelphia and is rated the most Democratic district in the nation. Because the district is so heavily Democratic and Black-majority, the winner of the primary is routinely positioned as the presumptive general-election victor.

The race was cast as a showdown between progressive insurgents and the local party establishment, a dynamic that drew outside interest and national-watch attention.[1]

Rabb now advances to the November general election in a seat Democrats have long controlled.
