Closed north Minneapolis riverfront roofing plant hits market

CBRE has listed the closed Building Materials Manufacturing roofing plant at 50 Lowry Ave. N. in north Minneapolis as a 13-acre Mississippi riverfront redevelopment opportunity.[1]

The riverfront site includes roughly 117,000 square feet of buildings and three rail spurs.[1] CBRE did not disclose an asking price when it listed the property.[1] The site is zoned Corridor Mixed-Use and is assessed at just over $5 million for 2026.[1]

Building Materials Manufacturing, part of roofing giant GAF, closed the north Minneapolis plant earlier this year and laid off about 120 workers.[1] The parcel sits just south of the $350 million Upper Harbor Terminal redevelopment that is now under construction.[1]

The CBRE listing puts a large riverfront parcel on the market at a moment of active redevelopment along the Mississippi in north Minneapolis.[1]
