Zelenskyy's Ex-Chief Of Staff Named Suspect In $10.5 Million Probe

Andriy Yermak, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's former chief of staff, was named a suspect in a 460-million-hryvnia ($10.5 million) money-laundering probe, Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies said late Monday.[1]

Prosecutors say the investigation centers on a luxury real estate development outside Kyiv and extends into suspected corruption in the energy and defense sectors, including procurement of drones and other military equipment.[1] Officials said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a suspect; Yermak resigned as chief of staff in November and denies wrongdoing through his attorney.[1] Prosecutors named other senior figures they say are implicated, including former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Chernyshov and businessman Tymur Mindich, and said National Security and Defense Council head Rustem Umerov was questioned as a witness.[1]

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office opened the case and named Yermak a suspect as they expanded an investigation into the Kyiv-area development.[1]
