Texas Police Arrest Suspected Serial Killer In Murders Of Two Women

U.S. Marshals and Texas officers arrested Luis Fernando Benitez-Gonzalez in the Dallas area on April 27, 2026, charging him in the killings of two women and linking him to other violent attacks.[1]

Authorities say Benitez-Gonzalez faces charges in the 2018 strangling death of Alba Jenisse Aviles-Marti in Bastrop County and the June 21, 2024 killing of Alyssa Ann Rivera in Austin.[1] Ballistics tie two separate November and December 2025 shootings that left two women alive to the same weapon.[1] Austin Detective Chris Anderson said the suspect has made admissions about both murders and both aggravated assaults and that investigators are checking for additional victims in multiple Texas cities.[1]

Deputy U.S. Marshal Brandon Filla said Benitez-Gonzalez is a Mexican national who was voluntarily deported in 2020.[1] Officials say the arrest followed a multiagency probe that relied on ballistic testing and interviews across jurisdictions.

Authorities say the investigation remains active as they review other unsolved cases and follow leads on possible additional victims.[1]
