Vehicle hits Shakopee senior home, causes gas leak

A vehicle struck All Saints Senior Living in Shakopee just after 4 p.m. Thursday, breaking an exterior gas meter and prompting a precautionary evacuation of the building.

The crash occurred at the All Saints Senior Living facility at 1880 Independence Drive, where the impact sheared off the exterior gas meter and caused a natural gas leak. All Saints Senior Living residents were evacuated as a precaution, and police, fire, EMS and CenterPoint Energy crews responded to the scene.

Crews were working to secure the leak and officials asked the public to avoid the area while emergency crews remain on scene, according to reporting by FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul.
