Fox Poll: 60% of U.S. Voters Say AI Is Advancing Too Quickly

A new Fox News poll conducted Jan. 23–26, 2026 finds 60% of registered U.S. voters believe the use of artificial intelligence in the United States is moving too fast, while just 6% say it is too slow and about 30% say it is at the right pace. At the same time, 63% say they have little or no confidence that the federal government can properly regulate AI, a skeptical view that has remained relatively steady since 2023 even as Congress and agencies debate new rules. The survey of 1,005 registered voters shows perceptions of AI’s personal impact are mixed: 53% say it has not made much difference in their lives, 26% feel AI has helped them and 20% say it has harmed them. Support for federal regulation is complicated by partisan and demographic splits: women, White voters, older voters and Democrats are more likely to say AI is moving too fast, while the few groups where a majority express confidence in federal regulation are MAGA supporters, Republican men and very conservative voters. Younger voters under 30, dads and younger men are more likely to say AI has helped them, while non‑White women and mothers are more likely to report harm, underscoring how rapidly expanding AI tools are being experienced very differently across U.S. households.

SBSQ #29: Will AI terminate democracy? And why did Gallup terminate its approval ratings?
Natesilver by Nate Silver February 16, 2026

"The piece is an opinion‑style deep dive linking high public anxiety about AI (as documented in recent polls) and falling public optimism (Gallup), arguing that AI poses serious but manageable risks to democratic institutions and that policymakers should focus on concrete institutional fixes rather than sensational claims that AI will 'terminate democracy.'"
