Nevada governor calls special session on crime, films

Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo convened a special legislative session starting Thursday morning in Carson City to consider a sweeping criminal reform bill, cybersecurity legislation, and tax incentives to attract film studios to the Las Vegas area. The agenda includes the Safe Streets and Neighborhoods Act to stiffen penalties (including for DUIs and assaults on hospitality workers) and revive a Resort Corridor Court, creation of a state security operations center after a major cyberattack, and $95 million in credits for Sony Pictures Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery plus $25 million for productions statewide.
