Woman dies after Lake Street encampment shooting; victim identified
A Sept. 15 shooting at a homeless encampment near E. Lake Street and 28th Avenue S in Minneapolis wounded at least seven people and set several tents on fire; investigators believe it was a shootout between at least two people. On Sept. 18, police said 30-year-old Jacinda Oakgrove died at the hospital and noted a man was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting after the fact, then released pending charges, as they probe possible ties to an earlier Lake Street shooting. In response, the city has increased patrols and erected fencing in the area, with MPD citing drug-related disputes and calling the site a public-safety emergency.
