The Fujian is an approximately 80,000-ton vessel equipped with electromagnetic aircraft launch systems (EMALS) that enable launching heavier aircraft, including advanced J-35 stealth fighters, increasing range and strike capacity relative to earlier Chinese carriers such as Liaoning and Shandong (reported in 2024).
